Have you ever wanted to join a book club but were worried you would not have time to read the book? You are not alone! This book club is designed for those of us who find ourselves short on time but who still want to dive deep into discussion.
This book club is also designed for you to take some time for yourself. Even if you do not drink coffee, you deserve a coffee break! JCPL is proud to partner with Drinklings Coffee and Mugs in Wilmore to offer free coffee vouchers for those who participate.
Each month, we will pick a theme to correspond with 2-3 short read options and a suggested mindfulness exercise or tip, in partnership with the Jessamine County Mental Health Workgroup. The short reads will include but are not limited to poems, essays, articles, and song lyrics. These reads will be accessible for download online or for you to pick up in hardcopy form from the library, Drinklings Coffee, or the Jessamine County Health Department.
April’s theme is local, unpublished women authors. Join us by Zoom to hear Geeneva Mitchell read her poem for Nicholasville’s 2020 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration. We will also discuss a short story about growing up in Magnolia, Kentucky by Mavonna Bowman. You can pick up a hardcopy of the selected reads beginning on April 1st.
Register ahead of time and we will email you the Zoom meeting link, your coffee voucher, and this month’s reading selections.
